Buy Fresh Buy Local – in the Payne County Region

Local Food GuideOklahoma’s 3rd and newest BFBL chapter, Buy Fresh Buy Local – Payne County, formed in early 2010 to promote the benefits of locally grown foods and shopping at the farmers’ market, and to improve the health of their fellow citizens, especially children.

BFBL – Payne County is a project of Sustainable Stillwater, a chapter of the Oklahoma Sustainability Network, and is led by a diverse steering committee, consisting of farmers, university and extension staff, food service directors, farmers’ market representatives and a retail foods proprietor, among others.

Activities planned for the first year include development of a Local Food Guide for the Payne County area and surveying of farmers’ market participants.

Contributions of time, energy and other resources are always needed to allow this vital work to continue and expand.
