Communications/Education
The Communications/Education Program is responsible for Kerr Center
public and media relations as well as producing educational publications
on food and agriculture for print and for the web. In addition, program
staff manages the website content and design.
The Kerr Center newsletter has been published since 1974. In 1998, it
was renamed Field Notes. It is published quarterly and is available online
and free through the mail. (Click here to read; click
here for a subscription).
Field Notes is read by approximately 20,000 people. The majority are
in Oklahoma and surrounding states, though we have subscribers all over
the United States. It is the only consistent source of news about sustainable
agriculture in the state.
The Kerr Center website contains over 100 educational publications,
including reports, fact sheets, information packets, proceedings and
conference presentations. Resources are arranged by broad topic– farming
and gardening, raising livestock, organic agriculture, food and agricultural
issues, sustainable agriculture and buying and selling locally. (Click
