Tulsa Community Gardens Tour - Community gardens grow tomatoes, peppers and relationships. See for yourself how various gardens grow. Tulsa Community Garden Association is sponsoring a tour of gardens on June 14th from 11a.m. to 3p.m. For a map go to: http://www.tulsacommunitygardenassociation.org/

You may make donations at any garden if you choose. Monies collected will be used to promote and develop gardens in the Tulsa area.

Global Gardens Community Day, garden at Eugene Field, 2249 S. Phoenix Ave., Tulsa   1:00pm - 3:00pm   This is an opportunity for the community to come together with our students to learn about the gardens and work alongside one another as we care for the gardens. People are encouraged to come prepared to help us with tasks in the garden. And as always any plant donations (including thinnings and transplants) are welcome!  http://global-gardens.org/

Circle Cinema, 10 S. Lewis Ave, Tulsa   6:30 and 8:30PM   Special screening of “FRESH.”  The film is a call to action; it means to inspire its viewers to positive change, not scare them into a terrified complacency.  A panel discussion will take place from 7:45 – 8:15PM with local representatives from the sustainable food movement so audience members can learn what’s going on in Oklahoma.  Come to view the film and join the discussion before or afterwards to find out how you can become more involved. 

Panelists will include Rita Scott, Buy Fresh Buy Local – Green Country Coordinator; Sue Gray, Tulsa County Extension Horticulturalist; Emily Oakley and Mike Appel, Owners of Three Springs Farm, Oaks, OK; and Doug Walton, Community Foods Coordinator at the Kerr Center for Sustainable Agriculture.

Normally garlic harvested in June will cure for several weeks, but we just cannot wait to eat it. So we use this dinner as the perfect excuse to celebrate the "first tasting".  I'll be featuring my favorite heirloom varieties in each course and each will be paired with a perfectly suited Oklahoma wine.   Cost $60.00 (reservations required, call (918) 851-5662)  http://livingkitchen.homestead.com/

Charlotte Richert, Family Consumer Sciences Educator, is conducting the workshop. Participants will learn hot water bath and pressure canning methods. (class has now filled)

Labyrinth Walks, MoonShadow Herb Farm –3500 South Country Club Rd., Muskogee, OK  1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. - personal walks.  The public is welcome to drop by the herb farm for personal labyrinth walks.  Phone ahead (918-687-6765) so someone will be available to greet & show you to the labyrinths.  At 3:00 p.m. there will be a group walk for peace - all faiths and/or spiritual paths are welcome to participate. People are welcome to bring a drum, rattle, flute, etc.  Bottled water will be provided.
