Adams Family

Above: John Deere horse drawn No.3 sickle mower, (produced from 1935 to 1947). Below: Other farm tools and implements used by the late Troy Adams of Tom Bean, Texas. Mr. Adams' family donated the mower and other items in memory of their husband, father, and grandfather.

Horse drawn disc
John Deere Sled Style Cultivator (No.304)
Manufactured from early 1920's to late 1930's
(Compliments of Jerry Harmon of Wister, Oklahoma)
The horse drawn sled cultivator was used to ridge the soil on each side of the plants. This "tilling" process gave greater strength to the plants and killed the weeds, allowing the moister and nutrients to be more fully utilized by the desired crop.
Cornplanter
A 1930's John Deere horse-drawn, two-row, corn planter from Greg Duncan of Spiro. Restored to near original condition except for missing a planter bucket.

1917 Haypress
Bill Hardin of Cameron, OK and Jim Combs of the Overstreet-Kerr Historical Farm making a turn-of-the century agreement with a simple handshake. Bill has agreed to place his 1917/18, John Deere hay press on loan for an indefinite period of time at the Overstreet-Kerr Historical Farm, located in northern LeFlore County, Oklahoma. Bill's grandad, Willie M. Hardin, purchased the hay press new in 1917 or 1918. Willie passed it on to his son Lawrence, who passed it on to his son, Bill.
