One of the key parts of the mission of the Overstreet-Kerr Historical
Farm is preservation—of a historical home and farm buildings,
antique farm equipment, heritage
breeds of livestock and poultry, and heirloom
varieties of fruit.
The
historical farm offers workshops and educational events each year
for school classes and the general public that educate visitors
about farm life in eastern Oklahoma before 1940. Many workshops
are hands-on, teaching attendees how to do a craft or skill once
practiced on the eastern Oklahoma farmstead. Our biggest educational
event of the year is Farm-Fest,
held the second Friday and Saturday of October (Friday for schoolkids;
Saturday, the general public).
