Alan
Ware
Alan Ware graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in
Nacogdoches, Texas, with a B.S. in Agriculture in 1987. Alan was
employed by the Sam B. Hayter Trust from 1986 to 1989 to establish
the first 50 acre blueberry farm in Texas. Alan came to work for
the Kerr Center in 1989 as a farm manager for a small diversified
horticulture farm. The farm's enterprises included blueberries,
blackberries, sweet sorghum production, and various vegetable crops.
During his twelve years at the Kerr Center, Alan has served as
Consultation Coordinator, Horticultural Farm Coordinator and currently
as Director of the Oklahoma Producer Grant Program/Stewardship Farm.
Alan has been involved in the development of numerous organizations
including the Oklahoma Farmer's Market Alliance and the Oklahoma
Land Stewardship Alliance. He participates in various organizational
committees and conference planning committees.
Alan was raised in east Texas were he married a childhood friend.
Alan and his wife, Ann, of 15 years, have two children, Daniel,
12, and Rachel, 9. Alan enjoys many hobbies in the great outdoors
with his family, especially training Labrador retrievers. Alan is
very active in his church and enjoys living in rural Oklahoma.
