Mary
Penick
Mary graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. degree
in Animal Science and is working to complete her Master’s
degree in Ecological Preservation from OSU in the future.
Mary is the Pineywoods Cattle Manager and oversees the responsibilities
of growing the herd while maintaining the genetic and physical
characteristics of this endangered breed. Additionally, she provides
consultation and expertise for livestock producers throughout the
state. She is currently working jointly with OSU Extension Service
to provide comprehensive training and research in the field of
meat goats for Oklahoma producers.
Mary is active in the Oklahoma Land Stewardship Alliance, the Grazing
Lands Conservation Initiative, American Livestock Breed Conservancy,
Pineywoods Cattle & Breeders Association and the Oklahoma Master
Cattlemen’s program.
She also serves as the Program Assistant for the Southern SARE
Professional Development Program. She enjoys learning from a diverse
group of ranchers, farmers and Extension staff throughout the southern
states.
In her spare time Mary enjoys riding horses, fishing with her
two dogs, reading and spending time with family and friends. |
